​Ain’t no party like a West Coast party, ‘Cause a West Coast party don’t stop! Snoop Dogg and Warren G hosted a private party for the screening of YouTube’s GFunk at Snoop Dogg’s compound in LA. Friends of the two hosts and influential members in the hip hop world alike were in attendance of the screening which featured never-before-seen footage and interviews with artists such as, Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Ice T, Too Short, The D.O.C., Wiz Khalifa and others.

A retro LA street scene was created with a hydraulics low-rider car positioned in front of a 20 foot wide printed backdrop. POPsocial’s 3D 10 Camera Array captured guests posing behind the wheel or in front of the car with the ‘gangsta lean’ for over 340 GIFs over the course of the night. Multiple influencers posted to their social media accounts, including Snoop Dogg himself, resulting in over 26 million amplified impressions.

ABOUT THE EVENT

POPsocial partnered with MAS Event and Design and YouTube to make waves at 2018 #SXSW Interactive Festival.  

This year, YouTube presented “The Greatest Stories Retold”, an installation inside its Story HQ space. To show the power of its 6 and 15 second ads, they had 13 creative agencies transform classic fairy tales like Cinderella into interactive, short-form stories. Their goal was to demonstrate forms of effective storytelling that resonates with consumers and can generate greater brand recall.  

To bring these stories to life onsite for the public and SXSW attendees, POPsocial re-created a scene from BWA/Chiat/Day LA’s reimagined Cinderella with a custom build out using a 20’ backdrop, a classic Fiat 124 and props to dress up for the role. Over the 2-day weekend, attendees were able to star in their own 6-second video spots with a pre-scripted branded edit.
